Despite the ridiculous hop rates, this Double IPA manages to find balance, thanks to the soft, creamy mouthfeel and smooth finish contributed by the complex blend of malt, oats, and wheat. With notes of tangerine, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, peach, and grapefruit, WWJB is bursting with so much fruit juice character that it makes you question whether or not actual fruit was added, but there is just enough bitterness to remind you that it’s still a IPA. Double India Pale Ale brewed with Sabro, Lotus + Citra Hops.

By now you're probably aware that we're pretty smitten with Advanced Fluid Dynamics. But never ones to be satisfied, we thought we'd take this series to the next level by completely re-tooling the base recipe and refreshing the branding while also upping the ante with new, fruited variations.

Since its debut, AFD has thrived off of contrasting yet complementary flavor profiles. Starting with the orange creamsicle and vanilla notes from the Lotus, we added Sabro to bring in some more tropical notes, specifically coconut, and our latest revision for 2021 introduces Citra to the blend to bring in the familiar citrus flavors, specifically tangerine and grapefruit, which stands as somewhat of a grounding familiarity with the two even more contemporary varietals. French Toast Stout is brewed with lactose, cinnamon sticks, vanilla beans and maple syrup. Decidedly sweet, yet surprisingly drinkable, French Toast Stout opens with a huge burst of maple syrup, lending way to caramel malt sweetness, a hint of bittersweet chocolate and coffee from the roasted malts, subtle, yet rich cinnamon spice from the Vietnamese cinnamon sticks, and just a hint of vanilla in the finish to round it all out. We boil for more than 6 hours to achieve the unbelievably rich, chewy, thick mouthfeel of the base beer. We take the decadence to the next level with multiple maple syrup additions throughout the process, which are a perfect complement to the huge addition of barrel-aged Peruvian coffee from our friends at Zoe's Cafe, which was aged for several weeks in a spent Medianoche bourbon barrel before roasting. We got our hands on even more Galaxy hops to use with Juicy Bits, our popular New England-style IPA featuring a huge citrus and tropical fruit hop character with a softer, smoother mouthfeel from the adjusted water chemistry, higher protein malts, and lower attenuation. For this Galaxy DDH variant of Juicy Bits, we dry hopped with nearly 4 lbs per bbl of Galaxy hops, in addition to the normal dry hop schedule of Citra, Mosaic, and El Dorado, bringing the total hop rate up to over 7 lbs per barrel. We also extended the dry hop a touch longer and attenuated the beer a bit further, resulting in an incredibly bright hop character, soft, pillowy mouthfeel, with very little malt sweetness so that the focus is squarely on the incredible hop character.
