Malt Does More: be a somewhat dead bottle, but then it poured with absolutely fantastic rising white head. Nose of green apple, underripe stone fruit, and hay. Palate has a wonderfully soft tartness, and a full-flavored, rounded finish. Great blend.

Malt Does More is drinking an Oakpocalypse Later by Revolution Brewing at Untappd at Home
1/2025 can last had 3/2025. Pours with a nice fat head, though not quite as high-rising as last time. Nose of crème brûlée, barrel spirits, and oak. Palate immediately reveals both the rye and red wine barrels, which did not happen last time.

Malt Does More is drinking an Oude Geuze (2020) by Geuzestekerij De Cam at Untappd at Home
2020 bottle. Opened over the sink, because I’ve learned my lesson with these gueuzes. But there was no need. It opened with barely a pop, and no foam built in the bottleneck, which may be a first for me for this beer of any year. I worried that it might

Malt Does More: Hint of leather on the nose as this warms, and way more apricot than apple.
Malt Does More: Damn, this bottle is really fantastic. I want to let it open up and warm a bit, but I also keep wanting to drink it. The mouth feel is simply velvety, almost creamy, and the sourness is so rounded and balanced.

Malt Does More is drinking an Oktoberfest by Old Irving Brewing Co. at Untappd at Home
7/28/25 can. Pours dark amber with a barely off-white head that lasts a while. Nose is very malt-dominated, and the palate follows, with brown toast, nut, and toffee. Just enough bitterness in the finish and linger to keep this from being too sweet. Nice!

Malt Does More is drinking a Saison Dupont by Brasserie Dupont at Untappd at Home
BB 6/2027, so probably bottled 6/2024? Surprisingly, beautiful pour, cloudy dark golden body with a lasting and impressive whitehead. Nose is herbal, mildly grassy. Palate follows, but this is the best bottle of this beer I’ve had in Singapore. Left it

Malt Does More: sitting in the fridge after the bottles we opened for beer study purposes tasted really brutally gone. I know this distributor doesn’t cold chain or store cold, and I felt like those other bottles really showed that. This one, though, is great.

Malt Does More is drinking a Second Sight by Black Raven Brewing at Untappd at Home
6/18/25. Pours brown with a lasting tan head. Nose of raisins, brown bread, toffee, mildly floral hops. Palate follows, impressively, not as sweet as you’d think. Given the malts on the nose. Very nice dessert beer.

Malt Does More: Palate is evolving quickly, with graham crackers and English digestive biscuits taking the place of the toffee from before.
Malt Does More: Absolute toffee bomb as it warms further…
Malt Does More: Dates, more crème brûlée, hints of vanilla custard on the pallet. Super nice dessert beer, perfect for after-dinner sweetness.

Malt Does More: I’m getting much more of the red wine barrel compared to last time, and it’s a bit disarming (red wine barrel always seems like a roll of the dice with barley wines and stouts) but really tasty.
